For the first time in a long time, I played a lot of Fallout 4 this past week or so. I even streamed a lot it on Youtube. And I have to say…it was great.
Return to Fallout 4?
I actually got more new subs from my Fallout 4 mega stream than from any of the other streams I’ve done. I’m not saying I will stop streaming other games, but it was nice to remember that there is more that just one game that I can play that attracts attention.
It got me thinking about how I can better use my streaming time to play other games that people enjoy. Sometimes people enjoy just watching someone else build settlements in Fallout 4. Other times, they wanna see massive gun battles. Heck, some people even liked when I played Child of Light (maybe I should get back into that game).
Essentially, I found I was sort of pigeon-holing myself by concentrating so much on a single game. I’m aware that it’s a bad idea to put all your eggs in one basket, but sometimes you don’t even realize you’re doing it.
I’d been getting burned out on Duel Links and playing Fallout 4 again and just building a settlement for several hours was actually refreshing and invigorating. It felt nice. It helped me relax. Also, I kept the face-cam off.
I’m not knocking the face cam or saying I will never use it again. I’m just the sort of person that has always been behind the camera and not in front. Sure, I can pull off being the center of attention while on camera for a little while, but ultimately it stresses me out to the point where I am simply not enjoying myself. This, I think, was made very obvious on my Sunday Duel Links stream.
